Mums Life Story

Created by David 3 years ago

Molly was born in Frome, Somerset in 1928, the eldest daughter of Harold and Beatrice Dobson. Mum had two sisters Rosalind and Bessie. When she was 4 she moved to Oxfordshire and went to school at Henley Grammer School. Shortly afterwards war broke out and the family moved to Longparish in Hampshire. Mum continued her education at Andover Grammer School leaving at the age of 16 and then trained to be a telephonist at Andover Telephone Exchange.

Mum met Derek Gunton in 1947 whilst he was on National Service in Longparish. After becoming Engaged Mum moved to Norwich. They married in 1949 at Longparish. Molly and Derek had 2 children David and Anne both born in Norwich.

Mum worked at School Meals and the Norwich Telephone Exchange until her retirement in 1988.

Throughout her life Mum loved outdoor life; walking, animals, insects, and ornithology and her knowledge was extensive. An avid fan of Radio Norfolk she won several prizes for knowing bird songs and norfolk locations.

Mum loved her holidays with Dad on the Norfolk Broads and at Longparish. After Dad passed awy in 1998 Mum flew to Jersey and the following year a walking tour of New Zealand.

Mum was blessed with 2 children, 4 grand children and 1 great grandchild.

A loving Mother who will be sadly missed by all.
